Ride Connect Texas was formerly Southeast Community Outreach for Older People (SCOOP), which was established in 1995 to provide transportation services for seniors within Southeast San Antonio. In 2012, Southwest Outreach for Older People (SWOOP) was established to also provide transportation for seniors in San Antonio’s Southwest side of town. Then, in 2017, SCOOP and SWOOP merged to become Ride Connect Texas. These transportation services were coordinated with volunteer drivers providing rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, banks, pharmacies as well as to places of worship, family and social events.
